Finnish Prime Minister Outspoken, Russia’s War Shows Europe Isn’t Strong Enough!

Prime Minister (PM) Finland Sanna Marin gave a “very honest” assessment of the skills Europe in the midst of Russia’s war in Ukraine. He said in no uncertain terms that “we are not strong enough” to face Moscow alone.

The news agency reports it AFP extensionon Friday (2/12/2022), during a visit to Australia, Marin said so Russian invasion of Ukraine it highlighted European weakness and strategic mistakes in relations with Russia.

“I have to be very honest, very honest with you, Europe is not strong enough right now. We would be in trouble without the US,” he told the Lowy Institute in Sydney.

Marina insisted Ukraine must be given “whatever it takes” to win this war. The Finnish leader added that the United States has played a key role in providing Ukraine with the weapons, funding and humanitarian aid it needs to counter the progress Russia.

“We have to make sure we build on that capability when it comes to European defence, the European defense industry, too, and make sure we can deal with different situations,” he said.

Finland gained independence from Russia nearly 105 years ago. The country managed to inflict heavy casualties on the invading Soviet troops soon after despite being heavily defeated.

Finnish leader the 37-year-old criticized the policy European Union (EU) which underlines the importance of engagement with Putin. He said the bloc should have listened to the member states that were part of the Soviet Union before it collapsed.
