He accused the skipper, among other things, of having insufficiently prepared for the trip from Terneuzen via Vlissingen to the North Sea. Furthermore, the speed of the Belgian skipper was too high and he had not made contact with the ship that passed him.
The channel at Vlissingen is narrow and runs close to the beach, especially at low tide. A large container ship was still sailing six months ago almost on the beach.
