A man was arrested this Tuesday in Porto.
Edi Barreiros, the suspect in the death of Mota Jr, was detained this Tuesday after returning from England on a Ryanair flight.
To what Morning mail found out, Edi is a rapper, lives in Loures and had a family in Manchester, and it is in this English city that he has been recently.
Edi Barreiros stayed in Manchester for more than two months, but the discovery of the body of rapper Mota Jr precipitated things. The rapper fled to London after the murder where he stayed until he traveled to Porto, thinking, perhaps, that he would be less noticed than if he entered Portugal through Lisbon airport.
This man is suspected of having participated in the murder of Mota Jr in a coup to assault the rival rapper who was known for showing outward signs of wealth. Edi had at least two other accomplices in the crime. He and another fled to England after disposing of the musician’s body.
The murder suspect entered Portugal at 11:50 am from London, UK.
The arrest of Edi Barreiros was made by the Foreigners and Borders Service of Porto under the international arrest warrants issued after the murder of the musician and YouTube star.
The suspect was handed over to the Judiciary Police.
The manhunt after flight abroad
After the discovery of the rapper’s body and the investigation continued, the Judiciary Police launched an authentic man hunt in England, where two of the three suspects in the abduction and murder of Mota Jr were found.
European arrest warrants were issued as part of an investigation led by the PJ’s National Counter-Terrorism Unit.
The two suspects are said to have traveled to England in full quarantine after committing the crime. Mota Jr was kidnapped in the early hours of March 15 – a Sunday – and the attackers left the country the following week. The plan was to steal and torture him if he resisted. The group returned to the crime scene hours later, at a time when the singer’s mother and sister were testifying at the PJ. They had their house keys and knew where the goods were kept. The assault was surgical; the house was not turned inside out. The kidnapping was planned by a single individual – someone Mota Jr knew. This man then contacted two others to help him. The head of the gang, referenced for violent robberies, will already be identified, but left the country before the declaration of the state of emergency.
The PJ managed to track the stolen gold. He even identified those involved in the sale of jewelry. However, the preliminary results of the autopsy on David Mota’s body point to a violent death. A beating was said to have caused the rapper’s death. He was beaten and punched. The amount of blood that was at the scene of the crime made him guess that the singer was at least weakened when he was abducted. It could even be dead already.
