Autumn weather
– We definitely see that the autumn is underway. Rain and wind are prevailing over large parts of the country, and there are many indications that empty water reservoirs will be filled up, especially in Western Norway, says state meteorologist Rannveig Eikill to Dagbladet.
Break road and canceled ferries
The yellow danger warnings will decrease from Friday, and most places will experience less wind than has been the case in recent days.
– From Friday, there will still be quite a lot of precipitation, especially in Western Norway and Southern Norway. There will be a new low pressure from the south over Western Norway which will later pull over the mountains towards Eastern Norway, says Eikill.
From around noon on Saturday, the weather will be somewhat lighter in Eastern Norway and in Central Norway.
Best weather in Eastern Norway
– The weather is light and there will be a lot of sun and staying weather in Østafjells this weekend. This is where you get the nicest weekend weather in the country, she says.
From Central Norway and further north, the wet weather will linger throughout the weekend.
– Last weekend, Northern Norway experienced a really nice sunny weekend. They probably will not do that this week. The wind will calm down a bit, but it will be really autumn weather with a good deal of precipitation in most places. Also in Finnmark, says Rannveig Eikill.
The temperature will drop in most places, but it will not be directly cold in some places.
– In Eastern Norway, it looks like it could be a pretty warm and nice weekend. On Sunday, it also looks like they can get pretty good temperatures in Western Norway.
– Long awaited
Low pressure in line
As of Monday, the country is still characterized by low pressure. Both in Sørlandet and Vestlandet there will be quite a lot of precipitation at the beginning of the week.
– On Wednesday, there will be a new low pressure from the south. There will be occasional low pressure throughout the week in the south and west. For northern Norway, there will be a little less precipitation from Tuesday. Then they will have partly cloudy weather with a glimpse of sun, the same will be the case in Central Norway, says the state meteorologist.
– The low pressures are in a row, and it is time to find a rain jacket and boots in most places next week.
– You have not mentioned the word high pressure once?
– There is a high pressure east of Norway, but probably too far east for it to have any major effect for us. It will be a stationary situation with a continuous supply of precipitation from the south which will lead to a wet week for Eastern Norway, Southern Norway and Western Norway, says the state meteorologist.
– Who will be this week’s weather winner?
– It was a difficult question. This weekend it will be Eastern Norway, but throughout the week it is almost impossible to determine who will be the weather winner. If you like rain and proper autumn weather, it will be in Western Norway you get to experience it. Then we will name them the winners of the week, says state meteorologist Rannveig Eikill to Dagbladet.
