finally something concrete against the traffic jams of the Lino?

A meeting is scheduled for Thursday January 14 between the prefecture, the metropolis of Dijon, the department of Côte-d’Or and the mayors of the municipalities where the Lino passes, the north-west inter-municipal link of Dijon which connects the ring road to the A38. Ahuy’s black spot will be at the heart of the discussions.

Lino users are well aware of the roundabout between Ahuy and Fontaine-lès-Dijon, north of Dijon, where traffic jams form during rush hour. It is one of the black spots of the north-west intercommunal link, which has linked the Dijon ring road to the A38 motorway since 2014.

Lately, various elected officials have expressed themselves in the press on the solutions that could be put in place to make traffic more fluid. They will all be around the same table Thursday January 14 during a meeting between the prefecture, the departmental council of Côte-d’Or, the metropolis of Dijon and the town halls concerned.

The mayor of Ahuy, Dominique Grimpret, defends a project that he promises to be quick to put in place. “What we recommend is the creation of an interchange on the Ahuy side which is the counterpart of what already exists on the Fontaine side. Since on the Fontaine side, you have a roundabout to access the Lino. The big drawback, which creates traffic jams today, is that people have to go around the roundabout “, explained to us in December 2020 the elected LREM, also vice-president of the metropolis. “If we create an interchange on the Ahuy side, cars will no longer go around this roundabout and there will no longer be any traffic jams”.

The departmental council, for its part, recalls that it has always campaigned for the Lino to have 2 x 2 lanes as soon as it was put into service in 2014. “We had succeeded from the start so that the declaration of public utility was taken for a 2 x 2 lane. This is the reason why the rights-of-way of the bypass are calibrated to eventually make a 2 x 2 lanes”, recalls François-Xavier Dugourd, first vice-president of the departmental council.

We have always campaigned for the 2 x 2 lanes to happen straight away.

The project presented by the mayor of Ahuy is nevertheless favorably received by the Department. “It will not solve all the problems, far from it. But it will improve the situation. It is a minimum, an essential first step, but it will not be sufficient, specifies François-Xavier Dugourd.

“For a bypass to be effective and also respond to ecological concerns, traffic must be fluid […] Our goal is that eventually, we end up with the entire 2 x 2 lane route “, he continues.

Dominique Grimpret is not against the enlargement of the Lino in the longer term. “Maybe in ten years we’ll do a 2 x 2 track. There aren’t really any different points of view. It’s just a matter of tempo”, he explains.

A 2 x 2 lane will never be made for ten or fifteen years. So we need a more urgent solution.

The prefect wants to “do it quickly”

The metropolis is also leaning towards the creation of an interchange on the Ahuy side, according to Dominique Grimpret. The prefecture must present on Thursday the arrangements that could be put in place in Ahuy.

“My intention is to act quickly. That is to say to quickly agree on a development option, on reasonable costs and with a short-term objective allowing work to be carried out”, tells us the prefect of Côte-d’Or Fabien Sudry questioned on the eve of the working meeting.

However, it does not set aside an expansion of the infrastructure in the future. “There is an immediate stake in the realization of work on this sector. This does not exclude to continue the exchanges on the longer term. I do not oppose the ones and the others. My only objective is to serve the public interest on each of the files presented to me “, he concludes.
