FilGoal | News | Ismail Youssef: I contracted with Bassem Morsi after I saw his “walk” … and Shikabala was playing for free

Ismail Youssef, the former Egyptian football star, revealed many of the scenes of his period as a member of the Zamalek Board of Directors.

Youssef was a guest on Ontime Sports 2, and discussed the issue of renewing the team’s star contracts and the many offers they received.

All of the following was given by Ismail Yusuf:

“We followed Imam Ashour for 6 months before contracting him, and we found that his level is very good, in addition to his excellent behaviors.”

“The deal was almost stopped due to two million pounds, but Imam bore the same amount through trust receipts that he pays so far. His desire was to come to Zamalek.”

Ashraf Bencharki joined Zamalek for only $ 400,000.

“Ferjani Sassi came to us with a nomination from Turki Al-Sheikh, and Jaros was (torn) somewhat, but he finally agreed to include him.”

“I spoke with Omar Kharbin to sign him 3 months ago and contacted the director of football at Al Hilal Club. There was no problem with the transfer amount, but Khirbin was paid very high.”

“Players’ entitlements crisis? There is 25% down payment for a contract that players receive before the start of the season, but what happened is that the season did not end at the end of July, as is normal, but extended for additional months due to the Corona pandemic.”

“FIFA is allowed for clubs after paying the down payment to the players’ contracts until after the end of the season, and we cannot pay an advance to the player and then leave after the season ends.”

Therefore, the 25% percentage was carried over to December 1, in addition to 4 months that were counted against Zamalek club from August to December, which created the problem.

“The presence of Ferjani Sassi is very important to Imam Ashour. I went through this same experience during my playing period in Zamalek when the club contracted with Essam Merhi, at that time my level rose very much and I started attacking and scoring goals.”

Ferjani Sassi’s popularity in Egypt among Zamalek fans is higher than his popularity in Tunisia.

“Pacheco requested a contract with a talented fifth center-back in the second division. He wanted a player like Mohamed Abdel Ghani, and I was watching Mahmoud Shabana – the player of Aswan now – and I contacted him.”

“We got the signature of Rajab Bakkar and Nabil Dunga, but we did not bring them for financial reasons. We also wanted to keep the group and preserve the strength of the team and not repeat the mistake of previous seasons.”

“Amir Adel is the surprise that I promised before our departure from Zamalek.”

“When I was a coach of Military Production, I was presented with the name of Morsi, he was playing at Petrojet and I did not know him, so I asked him to join the team camp to judge him, and that was 48 hours before the registration door closed.”

“The next day he came and told me that he would not be able to train because he was injured and removed the plaster from his foot only 3 weeks ago, so I asked him to wear a sports uniform and to walk on the field, then I told him that you will be tied, his walk was the gait of a football player.”

“When I was coach of the youth team, I joined Muhammad Al-Shennawi at the expense of Ahmed Adel Al-Moneim, who was promoted to the first team, and they attacked me for that at the time.”

“We were waiting for an offer from Morocco to sell Hamid Haddad, but it was much less than the amount we bought it with, and so we decided to restrict it and keep it in order to preserve the club’s money and we explained that to Pacheco.”

“As for Razzaq Cisse, he is in charge of Zamalek, and that is why we preferred to take him out on loan to the Union. It was not a wrong decision, and he is playing now, participating and getting the opportunity that he may not find in Zamalek.”

“The many offers by Zamalek players? They are distinguished players, but the timing surprised me and surprised me.”

Ahmed Fattouh and Shekabala did not renew their contracts. Rather, it was extended and financially improved. Their contracts would not have expired.

“Shikabala is almost playing for free during the last period, because he was subjected to a fine of one million dollars for his time with Sporting Lisbon, and the Central Agency deducts it from his salary, and thus the net amount he gets is almost non-existent.”

“I will not run in the Zamalek elections again. I want to return to training and I have already received more than one offer from abroad.”

We refused to contract with Salih Jumaa and Hussam Ashour after they offered them to us. If we were there, I would have refused to include Ahmed Al Sheikh.
