The Confederation of African Football (CAF) announced the date for the draw for the group stage of the African Champions League for the 2020-2021 season.
The lottery will be held next Friday (January 8) in a Cairo hotel, with the draw for the Attache House in the Confederation.
The African Union also announced the dates of the group stage rounds, which came as follows:
First round: February 12-13
Second round: 23 February
Third round: 5-6 March
Fourth round: March 16th
Fifth Round: 2-3 April
Round 6: April 9-10
Zamalek is the only club that has guaranteed access to the group stage of the African Champions League so far, after the withdrawal of Chad’s champion Gazelle from the round of 32 match.
Al-Ahly is preparing to meet the Nigerian champion Sonidep team in the second leg of the 32nd round at the Al-Ahly we Peace Stadium, after it excelled in going with a goal without a response in Niger.
16 teams will qualify for the group stage, divided into 4 groups, from which the first two teams qualify to play the knockout matches until the final match.
Al-Ahly had won the title of the last edition, 2019-2020, after beating Zamalek with two goals to one in the final of the tournament, which was held at Cairo Stadium.
