Figueres Mayoress denounces health risks caused by the strike of cleaning and garbage collection services.

The mayoress of Figueres, Agns Llad, has lamented the “repeated breach” of the minimum services in the strike of the city’s cleaning and garbage collection services.

He has described the strike as “arbitrary, unfair and irrational” and has assured that it generates serious public health problems, in a tweet this Friday collected by Europa Press.

He has also criticized that the plague is unbearable, that insects and other animals proliferate, and that the municipal administration cannot “guarantee mobility” in some streets.

Faced with this situation, Llad has maintained that the municipal government is working to decree a health emergency in the city and that the City Council will respond to “pickets, sabotage and damage to furniture.”

Likewise, he has said that he is in contact with the Generalitat and with the municipal political groups: “As public servants we have the obligation and responsibility to preserve the rights of our citizens, and this is what we are doing.”
