Fight of Russian boxer Gassiev with American Forrest canceled

Murat Gassiev’s ten-round heavyweight fight with Jerry Forrest was canceled due to the unpreparedness of the Russian boxer. The match was to be held in the USA in the city of Frisco (Texas) on March 1 as part of a major boxing show. Information that the fight was canceled due to problems of Gassiev’s headquarters with the selection of sparring partners appeared in Twitter ESPN Channel journalist Steve Kim on the morning of February 19.

Later, the words of the ESPN journalist were confirmed in the team of the Russian boxer. “The fight will not take place. There are many questions from the fact that Murat was not ready as it should, to the point that there were questions under the contract, ”the source from the athlete’s team told TASS.

As Kommersant previously reported, the duel between Gassiev and Forrest was supposed to be the return to the ring of one of the most titled professional boxers in Russia after a half year break in his career related to injuries.

Gassiev is a former World Boxing Association (WBA) and International Boxing Federation (IBF) heavyweight champion. His track record has 26 wins (19 by KO) and one defeat. On Forrest account 26 wins (20 by KO) and three defeats.
