Fifteen more deaths across the country, 109,000 infections crossed

Fifteen more Canadians have lost their fight against coronavirus disease and more than 250 others have contracted the virus, according to figures released Thursday from coast to coast.

This brings the national death toll to 8,825 deaths and 109,083 cases.

As is the case since the start of the health crisis, Quebec and Ontario presented the heaviest results of the federation. The 15 deaths all occurred in these two provinces, which are the most populous in the country.

Quebec, which seems to be experiencing a resurgence of COVID-19 following the reopening of bars, in particular, announced 142 new cases, its most important data since June 25. Ten additional deaths were reported – including one that occurred before July 8 -, for a total of 5,646 deaths. In addition, 57,001 Quebecers have been infected to date.

In Ontario, there are now 37,163 patients (+111) and 2,737 deaths (+5). Doug Ford’s government, in consultation with the Chief Medical Officer of Health, has extended most of the emergency orders still in effect until July 29, 2020,

Manitoba also reported a single new case on Thursday for a total of 331 infections.

Alberta: 8,994 cases (163 deaths)

British Columbia: 3,149 cases (189 deaths)

Nova Scotia: 1067 cases (63 deaths)

Saskatchewan: 881 cases (15 deaths)

Manitoba: 331 cases (7 deaths)

Newfoundland and Labrador: 262 cases (3 deaths)

New Brunswick: 168 cases (2 deaths)

Prince Edward Island: 36 cases

Yukon: 11 cases

Northwest Territories: 5 cases

Nunavut: 2 cases

Canadian returnees: 13 cases

Total: 109,083 cases (8,825 deaths)
