Serbia has a surplus of vaccines and is therefore now also vaccinating foreigners. Normally, the small travel company Party in Belgrade from Eindhoven provides trips for groups who want to immerse themselves in the famous nightlife of the Serbian capital, but things have come to a standstill at the moment. Now the company of IT specialist Thomas Zaatman (34) helps Dutch people who want to go to Serbia for a vaccine with arranging apartments or hotels, safe transport, the tests for the return trip to the Netherlands and filling in the necessary Serbian forms.
Serbian phone number
“It started by coincidence, a month ago, when a couple who rented an apartment through us asked if we had a Serbian mobile number for them. This is necessary for the registration of a vaccination application. ” Soon after, he received about 15 requests for help, all from people over 60. “I suspect from the network of that first couple. They want to get an injection in Belgrade, because they think vaccination in the Netherlands is going too slowly. ”
Zaatman has asked some of them to explain their decision to get the injections in Serbia, but none of them turned out to be willing to do so. “They want to stay under the radar.”
Ethical considerations may play a role in this. After all, the Dutch government still strongly discourages non-essential travel abroad. That is also the reason that Zaatman does not actively offer or promote vaccination trips. “The Dutch contamination figures are also high. For example, Germany now also requires a negative test for people entering from our country. We offer assistance on request, but we will not offer from A to Z packages with flight and all and PCR test in the Netherlands, ”explains Zaatman.
He says he does not have much to do with it. “If we can do it again, we just want to offer great trips for groups again. That’s what we do it for. Until then, we help people if they ask for it and if we can, based on our contacts and experiences. ”
