2026 World Cup Tickets to Begin at $60, Sales Launching September 10
Zurich, Switzerland – FIFA announced today that tickets for the 2026 World Cup, hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will start at $60. However, the organization also confirmed the implementation of dynamic pricing, meaning ticket costs will fluctuate based on demand. The first phase of ticket sales begins September 10 for Visa cardholders, with applications accepted through September 19. Triumphant applicants will be notified by September 29 and given a purchase window in October. FIFA officials stated request data will be screened to prevent bot interference, and the randomized draw will be overseen by a public notary in Zurich.
A meaningful change in ticketing strategy involves how seats are categorized. Unlike previous tournaments where seat placement relative to the pitch steadfast category-with Category 1 being the best-the 2026 World Cup will primarily categorize seats based on the stadium level. For example, the lower level of MetLife Stadium, host of the final, is expected to be entirely Category 1, with suite levels as Category 2, and upper bowls as Categories 3 and 4. FIFA officials explained this shift aligns with perceived cultural norms in North America, where fans prioritize proximity to the field over specific views.
Fans can purchase single-game tickets, venue-specific packages, or packages following a particular team. Tickets will initially be sold by category, with specific seat assignments randomized until the final sales phase, which will operate on a first-come, first-served basis after dynamic pricing is implemented. A maximum of four tickets per match and ten matches total can be purchased per person. FIFA will also operate a resale marketplace to combat scalping.
