“Few can stir up debate among employees as well as the quality of coffee in the workplace. The days when it was enough to have a cup of coffee in the kitchen are long gone, “adds the founder of GoodCall, which according to the Financial Times is one of the five hundred fastest growing companies in the world.

Some companies solve this problem even with architects. Even though it may seem like a detail to some.

“The location of the kitchen and coffee machine plays an important role in the workplace, especially when the kitchen is designed as a cooperation zone. Many work tasks can be solved by an informal meeting over a cup of coffee. For example, one of our clients canceled all coffee machines that prepared lattes and moved them to another floor because he wanted people to meet each other there, “says Lucie Loudová, director of the design and construction company Tétris, for SZ Byznys.

The Czechs will not give up the Turk

In the Czech Republic, coffee consumption has been growing since 2015; according to the latest data, it has increased by almost five and a half percent year on year. Czechs thus consume an average of 2.2 kilograms of coffee per person per year, the survey confirmed.

“In addition to the growth itself, the changes in the individual coffee categories are also worth noting. From the feedback from customers, it is clear that although most Czechs still consume instant or ground coffee, their preferences are increasingly shifting to coffee beans. The popularity of capsule coffee has also been growing for a long time, ”says Lumír Františák, sales manager of JDE Professional, which includes the premium L’OR coffee brand.

Most often, people in the country prepare instant or Turkish coffee. Almost a fifth of Czechs choose coffee beans and its preparation in a fully automatic coffee machine. Almost every tenth prefers to use capsules in the respective coffee machine. This is also confirmed by retail chains.

“Coffee sales are growing in the order of percent. From this assortment, the interest of customers in capsules and also coffee beans is growing in the order of tens of percent. Overall, we are seeing a gradual shift towards more premium types of coffee, “says Jiří Mareček, Albert’s director of store communications, for SZ Byznys.
