No festivals last summer, but the festival sector has been busy last summer. Together with Minister of Consumer Affairs Nathalie Muylle (CD&V) they have set up a definitive voucher scheme. That arrangement is proposed today.
Free rebooking to 2021 or 2022
Almost all festivals in summer 2020 were canceled due to the corona virus. But what if you had already bought tickets for Graspop or Rock Werchter, for example? That is the question that festivalgoers have had all summer with. “Good news, all tickets for the summer 2020 festivals can be transferred automatically and free of charge to the 2021 or 2022 editions,” says Dieter Kraewinkels of Ticketmaster.
“Festival-goers don’t have to do anything for that. If you had a combination ticket for Rock Werchter 2020, it will automatically be converted into a combination ticket for the 2021 edition.” But what if you don’t like the line-up of artists? “People can also opt for a voucher. Then the full amount of the tickets will be converted into a voucher with which they can, for example, buy day tickets for the 2021 or 2022 edition.”
The vouchers not only apply to the tickets, but also to extras such as drink coupons or camping tickets. You can request the voucher via the Ticketmaster website. But all holders of tickets for Rock Werchter or Graspop will also receive an email with which they can request the voucher.
What if you don’t want to go?
Some festival goers buy tickets to see one specific band or artist. If it does not come in the following editions, they would rather not go to the festival and just get their money back. Is that also possible? “This scheme has been developed to support the festival sector. So we first of all ask you to try to accept such a voucher.” Anyone who can prove that he or she is unable to attend next year can request a refund.
Those who have not used their voucher after 2022 can also request a refund. But then you have to be patient. Those who still want money faster can consider selling the voucher. They are not registered and can therefore be resold.
