Italy Striker Federico Chiesa is a big admirer of his Juventus teammate and friend Aaron Ramsey, but hasn’t spoken much with the Welshman ahead of their nation. euro 2020 clash in Rome on Sunday.

Ramsey was instrumental in Wales’ 2-0 win over Turkey on Wednesday – a victory that puts Robert Page’s side in a strong position to advance to the round of 16.

Italy currently at the top of Group A after back-to-back 3-0 victories over Turkey and Switzerland.

Ramsey, who was in and out of the squad last season in Turin, has the ability to worry the Azzurri at Stadio Olimpico, according to Chiesa.

“Wales have some great players, first and foremost (Gareth) Bale,” he said at a press conference on Friday.

“Ramsey? He is not an ordinary player either, he is a very intelligent footballer. I enjoyed watching him in training and during games last year.

“He’s a friend of mine, we’re on good terms but we haven’t texted each other lately!” “

Italy are unbeaten in their last 29 games in all competitions since a 1-0 loss to Portugal in September 2018. If they avoid loss to Wales, they will tie their longest 30-game unbeaten streak between 1935 and 1939.

Chiesa, however, doesn’t take anything for granted. “They (Wales) are a strong and tenacious team and will definitely give us a battle,” he said.

The Italian Football Association has asked UEFA if players can wear black armbands against Wales following the death of Giampiero Boniperti at the age of 92.

Boniperti won 38 Italy selections between 1947 and 1960 and played in the 1950 and 1954 World Cup finals.
