Federal Government – New commissioners appointed – Politics

The Federal Government has appointed further commissioners. On Wednesday in Berlin, the cabinet appointed SPD politician Burkhard Blienert as the new commissioner for addiction and drug issues, as government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit announced on Wednesday in Berlin. It followed a suggestion by Federal Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach (SPD). The office, which previously bore the title “Drug Commissioner of the Federal Government,” was previously held by the CSU politician Daniela Ludwig. Blienert was drug policy spokesman for his parliamentary group from 2013 to 2017 and campaigned, among other things, for a liberal cannabis policy. The SPD member of the Bundestag Claudia Moll was appointed as the new care representative and her parliamentary colleague Stefan Schwartze as the patient representative. FDP member of the Bundestag Pascal Kober will be the new representative for victims of terrorism. Jürgen Dusel remains the representative for the interests of people with disabilities.
