Federal coalition: royal informers arrived at the Palace

Magnette dismissed the idea of a mission he would complete in duet with De Wever on Monday.

Thehe informants Georges-Louis Bouchez (MR) and Joachim Coens (CD&V) arrived at the Royal Palace this Tuesday at 3.30pm to give their conclusions to the King. Six weeks after their designation, the political situation still looks like a dead end. What will the head of state decide? The question remains.

The presidents of the MR and CD&V had to clarify the positions of each other in the second part of their mission. Many meetings took place between the PS and the N-VA under the leadership of the informants, but they did not lead to reconciliation.

Sophie Wilmès is also received at the Palais.

Two options are still on the table: either the “Vivaldi” coalition, associating socialists, liberals, environmentalists and the CD&V, or another formula associating the N-VA and other parties. However, for the PS, there is no possible alliance with the nationalists and, for the environmentalists, there is no question of sitting at the same table as the N-VA. Whereas, for the CD&V, there cannot be a coalition which has no majority in Flanders. In other words, you have to include the N-VA.

Magnette dismissed the idea of a mission he would complete in duet with De Wever on Monday. It is therefore possible that Mr. De Wever may receive a mission alone. What kind? Three fact-finding missions have already taken place (Messrs. Reynders and Vande Lanotte, M. Magnette and Messrs. Bouchez and Coens) as well as an unsuccessful pre-training mission (Messrs. Demotte and Bourgeois). Appointing a new informant would demonstrate how stuck the situation is.
