In addition, seniors should be able to use taxis at the price of bus tickets in order not to expose them to the risk of contacts on the bus and train. “Instead of simply sticking to the goal of a 7-day incidence of 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, it is better to focus on the utilization of the intensive care units,” demands Schwagereit. It is important that acute emergencies and severe Covid cases can always receive the necessary treatment. “Instead of daily tightening of the general measures, we should now concentrate on those who need special protection”. However, many infectologists warn that an overall high incidence makes it much more difficult to protect risk groups.

In Tübingen, too, the 7-day incidence is overall significantly lower than in Offenbach. While it was 144.8 in Tübingen at the end of the week, in Offenbach on Friday it was 285.5 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

The protection of senior citizens’ facilities is already the declared top priority of the Offenbach health department. Some institutions offer or are in the process of introducing rapid tests. The FDP is involved in the Offenbach city government. jon
