FC Wil will be playing next Saturday, November 20, 2021 from 6:00 p.m. in the Principality of Liechtenstein at second place in the table, FC Vaduz. For the first time, the new coach Brunello Iacopetta is on the sidelines.
A lot has happened at FC Wil. Head coach Alex Frei and assistant coach Romain Villiger are no longer on the line, but Brunello Iacopetta, who came from the Promotion League representative, and his new assistant Burim Kukeli. How the Wiler present themselves among the new coaches remains to be seen.
Vaduz is in second place
The Liechtensteiners have been without a defeat for four match days and with 23 points are the first followers of front runners Winterthur. Most recently, FC Thun saw a 1-1 draw in the Bernese Oberland. Simone Rapp equalized in the Stockhorn Arena after an hour. Before that, Mario Frick’s squad won 2-1 against Aarau and Schaffhausen, and Neuchâtel Xamax FCS 2-1.
Defeat at the start of the season
In the current season there was a first duel against the soccer players from the Principality of Liechtenstein. At the start of the season, the Äbtestädter lost 2: 3 on their home pitch. The Wiler led 2-1 until shortly before the end of the game, before the relegated two goals turned the game around. Tunahan Cicek equalized in the 89th minute and scored the winning goal in stoppage time.
