FC Porto triumphs in a heartfelt match and reignites the competition for the championship (Basketball)

FC Porto beat Sporting by 72-71, at Dragão Arena, in a match for the 3rd round of the 2nd phase of the Portuguese Basketball League.

The dragons managed to annul the disadvantage that had led to the end of the first period (13-18), reacted in the second half (21-18), but still left for the break behind on the scoreboard (34-36).

In the second half, in the third period, they achieved the best advantage in the match (23-15), but Sporting rebalanced the score in the last half (15-20), with the result undefined until the last ball possession.

Max Landis and Marvin Clark Jr., with 18 points each, were FC Porto’s top scorers, while Marcus Lovett (22 points) stood out for Sporting.

With this result, and on the back of Benfica’s defeat the day before, the three ‘big ones’ are now tied, all with 45 points, at the top of the standings.
