After surveillance cameras documented a heinous crime, when a young man attacked a girl in a street in the Indian capital, New Delhi, and stabbed her several times, her father broke his silence, commenting on what happened to his daughter.

The clip spread during the past hours like wildfire on social media in India, where a young man stabbed the girl 21 times, then hit her with a cement stone on her head.

The girl’s father, Janak Raj, said: “I saw my daughter lying on the ground, her face lying on the ground.”

“crashes her head”

He added, in an interview with CNN, that “her organs came out and her head was smashed. There was a lifeless body lying there. There is no point in taking her to the hospital.”

And about the fact that no one among the passers-by helped his daughter, he explained: “It makes me angry to know that no one helped my daughter. If they had helped her, she would be alive today. I also heard that the passers-by were busy filming videos of the accident. Even if they screamed, it would have helped my daughter.” “.

Raj also noted that his daughter helped the family finances by teaching. “I don’t feel alive today,” he said, shedding tears. “I miss her so much. She was a good child. What should I do?”

It is noteworthy that the video showed the young man carrying a huge rock and throwing it at the girl’s head until she breathed, after some time had passed since she was stabbed, and when the police came, they found the knife embedded in her body, while dozens passed before this heinous crime without anyone saving her.

Murders and rapes

The incident is the latest in a long line of killings and rapes that have sparked outrage over whether enough is being done to protect women in India and punish the attackers.

India has long struggled to tackle violence against women, and a 2018 survey of women’s experts by the Thomson Reuters Foundation ranked the country as the most dangerous place in the world for a woman.

The frequency of crimes against women in India also appears to be increasing. According to data from India’s National Crime Records Bureau, crimes against women were 20 percent higher in 2020 than in 2013.

Activists say the real statistics are likely just the tip of the iceberg, given that many forms of violence against women, such as rape, often go unreported.
