Florida doctor Carlos Francisco Vallejo (57) probably contracted the coronavirus from one of his patients. He infected five family members. On June 27, Carlos and his father Jorge had to be hospitalized. Both eventually died from the effects of the virus.
Jorge (89), formerly a doctor, died after just six days. Carlos fought for his life for 42 days, but died on August 1. “We’ve lost our family’s anchors,” says grandchild Jessica Vallejo. “They embodied what doctors should be. They would have given up everything for their patients. ”
Daughter Giselle (31) says: “I didn’t like to see him go to all those rest homes and hospitals, I was too afraid that something would happen to him. But there was nothing he could do, he was available around the clock for his patients. ”
“He was my role model,” adds Kevin (23). “When his patients were going through difficult times, he sometimes went to see them himself. Without financial intentions, just to be clear. Purely to make them feel good. ”
