One person died in an accident on the N440 near Wassenaar last night. According to witnesses, the victim is a walker who was walking on the road and was hit by a passenger car.
The walker would have been dragged tens of meters under the car. Firefighters had to knock over the car to get to him, witnesses say. The victim died at the accident site.
Police say an investigation is underway into the cause of the accident. Due to the investigation, the N440 near Wassenaar is closed in both directions.
