Faster, now the train journey on the Gambir-Yogyakarta route is only 6 hours

KONTAN.CO.ID – JAKARTA. PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) accelerated the travel time of a number of long-distance train journeys (KAJJ) starting Friday (24/9).

This is an innovation by PT KAI in the context of KAI’s 76th Anniversary on September 28, 2021.

This travel acceleration aims to meet the expectations of customers who require faster travel times.

“This effort was achieved through improving infrastructure capabilities so that trains are able to go faster but still prioritize travel safety,” said KAI President Director Didiek Hartantyo in a written statement, Friday (24/09).

The acceleration of travel time applies to Argo Bromo Anggrek (Gambir-Surabaya Pasar Turi pp), Argo Wilis (Bandung-Surabaya Gubeng pp) train trips, Argo Lawu (Gambir-Solo Balapan pp), Argo Dwipangga (Gambir-Solo Balapan pp), and Taksaka (Gambir-Yogyakarta pp).

“For example, for the Gambir-Yogyakarta round-trip route, the journey is now shorter, only about 6 hours from the previous 7 hours using the Argo Lawu and Argo Dwipangga trains,” said Didiek.

Acceleration also occurs in other trains, such as the Argo Wilis train for the Bandung-Surabaya Gubeng pp route, which is 48 minutes faster, so the travel time becomes 9 hours 55 minutes.
Meanwhile, Argo Bromo Anggrek on the Gambir-Surabaya Pasar Turi route, which on June 1, 2021, has been reduced by 14 minutes, this time has been reduced again by 20 minutes so that the travel time becomes 8 hours 10 minutes.

KAI also launched Free Wi-Fi services on Argo Bromo Anggrek, Argo Lawu, Argo Dwipangga, Argo Wilis, Taksaka, and Argo Parahyangan trains.

The presence of free Wi-Fi aims to meet customer needs in the digital era.
