Farouk Jaafar, the former Zamalek player, emphasized that the Egyptian clubs were being complimented during the era of the eighties of African rulers in Egypt.
Jaafar said in statements to the Zamalek channel, that during the period of the eighties of the last century, some Egyptian clubs were being complimented by African rulers.
He added, that the matches that were playing the African championship inside Egypt, the Egyptian clubs were taking advantage of the arbitration errors.
He continued: “Some African referees used to enter the dressing room before the matches in Egypt and ask the players, did I count a penalty to you or expel a player from the opposing team? And I was telling him no, it was happening with all the Egyptian clubs.”
He explained that during the Egyptian national team’s matches in the African World Cup 1990 qualifiers, the referees covered some balls, and sometimes the ball passed to the goal and the referee did not count it.
He continued: “Al-Ismaili Club also benefited from the refereeing errors in the African Championship in 1970, after Ali Abu Grisha got the ball with his hand.”
He pointed out that Egypt’s 1990 team had many distinctive elements, but it was not the best in Africa, unlike the humiliating generation that did not qualify in 2009 and 2010.
