There will be no real goodbye for Bob Van Staeyen, the singer of the Strangers for the time being. The family reports that. “We are postponing the ceremony as part of the public health measures.”

Robert – Bob – Van Staeyen (84) passed away on Saturday. He was one of the Strangers and enjoyed enormous fame with that Antwerp group in the seventies and eighties. There have been countless responses to the online mourning register and fans see this as the end of an era, as the original Strangers will never be together again in their full lineup.
The many fans hope to say goodbye personally and support the family, but that is not possible. A funeral may only take place with 15 people for the time being. Cremation therefore takes place in an intimate circle. The family wants to offer the opportunity to meet afterwards, as it says on the mourning letter and also on the Facebook page of the Strangers. It remains to be seen in what form that will be.
