Famsa files for bankruptcy in the United States; calls for restructuring

Group Famsa reported this Friday that it already filed a voluntary application under Chapter 11 of the Code of Bankruptcy in New York City, U.S, in order to obtain authorization for its new restructuring plan, adding that its stores will continue to operate normally to avoid hindering business or agreements with customers, suppliers and creditors.

Through a statement released on its website, Grupo Famsa, founded in 1970 in the city of Monterrey, Nuevo León state, noted that “the projected cash flow from the operations will be sufficient to finance them.”

Humberto Garza Valdez, Group CEO Famsasaid the board of directors decided to take this ruling from the bankruptcy unanimously because they want to stay on the market.
