Fallout Co-Creator tim Cain Returns to Obsidian Full-Time, Continues YouTube Series
Tim Cain, co-creator of the original Fallout games and programmer on Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines, has rejoined Obsidian Entertainment as a full-time, in-person employee. The veteran developer previously co-directed The Outer Worlds and has recently been contracting on projects, including The Outer Worlds 2.
Cain announced his return in a recent video on his youtube channel, stating, ”I’m back at obsidian…I’m not a contractor anymore.” He confirmed he is currently working on a project under a non-disclosure agreement (NDA). “I can’t talk about the project that I’m working on at Obsidian, just because that’s covered by NDA.Don’t bother guessing, you’re not going to guess right,” he said. he added, “I would say that I’m probably a lot less retired now.”
Despite his new position, Cain intends to continue producing content for his YouTube channel, which he began after being told a written memoir was ”a bit boring.” He stated that Obsidian has not asked him to stop, and that colleagues have even expressed enjoyment of the series. “I’m going to keep doing it as long as I have stories to tell,” he explained, “As long as you have questions that are really good and that I think need a video to answer and that I can answer.”
Obsidian Entertainment released both The Outer Worlds 2 and Avowed this year. The studio has not yet revealed the nature of Cain’s new project.
