A negative mark of 20 years fell yesterday in the Turkish classic with the victory of Galatasaray, 3-1 to Fenerbahce as a visitor, a result that did not occur two decades ago at the Sukru Saracoglu stadium in Istanbul.
And one of its protagonists was the Colombian Radamel Falcao García, who scored one of the scores for the historic victory of his team.
The striker got the second goal of Galatasaray from the penalty spot after a foul in the area over his teammate Henry Onyekur, 10 minutes from the end. Falcao charged, the goalkeeper guessed, but failed to tackle the ball.
It was the seventh goal of the Colombian in Turkey (6 in the League and 1 in the Cup) and perhaps, the most important since his arrival in football in that country, due to the historical connotation he had. Fifa, in its social networks, highlighted Falcao’s notation with the message: “The Tiger roars in Istanbul! 20 years had the lions of Istanbul without winning the derby as visitors. ”
Falcao also described, in his Twitter account, the excitement of celebrating in the classic.
“A goal with 20 years of history. I thank my lord Jesus for allowing me to live this special moment, ”wrote the player, who left the game at minute 84.
Galatarasay’s other goals were works by Ryan Donk (40 ’) and Henry Onyekuru (90 + 7 ’). Fenerbahce’s discount came through Max Kruse (21 ’, of penal).
The triumph put Galatasaray as leader of the League with 45 points, as did Trabnzospor, a position that the Colombian club hopes to hold to seek the title.
