Fake Clubhouse Ads PC Version on Facebook Spreading Malware

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Voice chat application Clubehouse has experienced rapid growth since being founded last year. Hackers or hackers use this to spread malware through the PC version of the fake advertisement of Clubhouse.

Reported Phone Arena, Tuesday, April 13, 2021, for those who are not aware, Clubhouse is only available on Apple iOS now. This means that the Android version is still a few months away.

But because the app is quite popular lately, fake advertisements of a non-existent version, are filed with malware has been circulating online.

For those who don’t realize it, this audio chat room has been a social media platform on the rise for a year. However, certain Facebook ads have linked users to pages on social media sites that mimic the app.

If people click on this ad, they will be redirected to a fake PC Clubhouse website. When tapped, the link is also included with malware, which is downloaded to the victim’s device.

This application looks for instructions from the command and control or C&C server on what action to take next. Several people clicked on the fake ad. the device is preloaded with ransomware.

This means that the victim has to pay money for the infected device to function normally again. Although Facebook has not disclosed the exact number of clicks on these fake ads, nine of these Clubehouse ads were found on the social media platform.
