Semifinal Thomas Cup 2022 between Indonesia and Japan must continue to the fifth party. Defeat Dawn Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto made Japan equalize to 2-2.

The match was tight at the start of the first game. However, after drawing 8-8, Koga/Watanabe started to speed up by taking eight consecutive points to lead 16-8.

Fajar/Rian had a hard time breaking down Koga/Watanabe’s defense. The return of the Japanese pair also made it difficult for Fajar/Rian several times. Koga/Watanabe won the first game 21-14 after Fajar’s return came out.

Fajar/Rian immediately accelerated in the second game with a 7-2 lead. Since then, Fajar/Rian has continued to maintain the lead.

Despite being chased to 14-11, Fajar/Rian responded by winning six points in a row to achieve game points. They finally won the second game 21-13 through Fajar’s hard smash to force the rubber game.

Fajar/Rian lead 11-8 over Koga/Watanabe during the third game interval. However, four consecutive mistakes made them behind behind 11-12.

Since then, Fajar / Rian continued to be in a position to chase until a 16-16 draw. Rian’s serve error and Fajar’s shot that failed to cross the net left them 16-18 behind.

Fajar/Rian are in a desperate position after Koga/Watanabe reached match point at 20-17. A serve error from Rian then gave victory to the Japanese pair.
