Faisal Basri Reveals Banned Luhut and GoTo Projects, Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs: Don’t Let Yourself Disappointed

TIME.CO, Jakarta – Investment and Mining Coordination Deputy, Coordinator of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment (Kemenko Marves), Septian Hario Seto opened his voice on the story of the senior economist at the University of Indonesia, Faisal Basri, on their meeting with Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.

Earlier, Faisal Basri had expressed anger at the subsidiary loan project belonging to the Coordinating Minister for Ministry and Investment Affairs, PT TBS Energi Utama Tbk. (TOBA) with PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia (GO TO) to manufacture electric vehicles.

“Their business is business to business. Please, sir Faisal Basri don’t continue to have prejudices,” Seto told Tempo on Friday, January 6, 2023.

Meanwhile, Faisal Basri said the meeting was held at Luhut’s residence in November 2022. Faisal admitted that he suggested that Luhut first encourage electric motorcycle ecosystem instead of electric cars. So, according to him, Luhut accepted his suggestion and sent Seto to Taiwan to explore cooperation with electric motorcycles in that country.

In response to this, Seto also revealed that he did not want to go to Taiwan because the bike he showed was deemed unfit to be marketed in Indonesia. “Too big and too expensive,” he told her.

However, two days later Faisal Basri read the news in the media that a memorandum of understanding had been signed between PT TBS Energi Utama Tbk. (TOBA) with PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia (GOTO) for the production of electric cars.
