You could already see in our video that Fairphone 4 is extremely easy to repair, but now iFixit has confirmed it: this phone is the most repairable smartphone in the world. The phone scores a 10 on a scale of 10 when it comes to repairability.

iFixit is a platform where people can share tips on how to fix a particular item. Fairphone 4 gets the highest rating on that platform when it comes to the repairability of the device. Fairphone is proud of it, but it is not the first time that it has received such a high rating from iFixit: Fairphone 2 and Fairphone 3 also received this score. A score that has never been given to a smartphone other than a Fairphone.
Fairphone writes: “By making phones that are easy to repair, Fairphone users can keep their phones longer by performing critical repairs, such as battery and screen replacement. But also other repairs, such as the back, selfie camera, main cameras, speaker, USB-C port and speaker. Fairphone is changing the relationship users have with their phones by encouraging more extended use and showing consumers and industry that phones can be stored for more than 2-3 years on average.”
Guarantee
The company gives Fairphone owners a 5-year warranty, so hopefully people will use their phone for longer than the usual two to three years. “Easily opening a phone is only part of its repairability. Other important aspects are accessible repair information and spare parts. The lack of repair documentation from manufacturers is one of the reasons iFixit was founded.”
Fortunately, other smartphone suppliers are now also waking up, because following Apple, Xiaomi would also come up with more options to repair your phone at home. On the other hand, as Androidworld readers recently noted: the suppliers should also look at their warranty conditions.

Fairphone explains the environmental benefit of more sustainable smartphones: “A life cycle assessment of the Fairphone 3 showed that keeping phones longer has environmental benefits and reduces C02 emissions. Extending the life of smartphones is one of Fairphone’s goals, but there is still a long way to go before 7 years of use is a reality.”
