Faes caught four subjects selling a pair of jaguars

The Special Actions Force (Faes) arrested four men in Barinas dedicated to marketing exotic animals in danger of extinction.

On this occasion, the subjects were preparing to sell a hunt for jaguars (butterfly tigers) for the sum of 6 thousand dollars, according to sources from the security agency.

Those learned are: Rafael Ismael Blanco Tovar (28), José Antonio Espinoza Mejías (22), Juan Eleazar Blanco Tovar (26), Daniel Enrique Fernández Dávila (37) and Carlos José Altuve Delgado (31), who belong to a criminal network organized that is dedicated to the sale of exotic animals to people abroad.

At the time of the arrest, the subjects owned the hunt for butterfly tigers that they had hunted on the banks of the Anaro River, on the Apure-Barinas border. They were preparing to sell them to people on the Colombian-Venezuelan border, as stated by the subjects.

Both the detainees and the animals were handed over to the Public Ministry.

The Attorney General, Tarek William Saab, through his Twitter account reported that the detained subjects will be charged with the crimes of: association, smuggling and hunting of Jaguar, an endangered species.

In another post, he regretted the increase in cruel actions towards animals. «I have observed with reflective conscience, the cruel behavior of subjects who have dedicated themselves for pleasure to spread on their social networks: the torture and murder of monkeys, dogs, jaguars, manatees, cats, etc… WHOEVER ACTING SO WILL BE ABLE TO DO SO WITH THEIR NEIGHBOR» , says the post.
