JAKARTA, KOMPAS TV – Member of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia Fadli Zon proposed naming the State Capital (IKN), namely Jokowi. This is an example of Kazakhstan which named the new IKN named Nursultan.
The new state capital is located in North Penajam Paser Regency, East Kalimantan.
“My suggestion is to name the capital city immediately “Jokowi”. Same with the capital city of Kazakhstan “Nursultan” (from the name of President Nursultan Nazarbayev”),” Fadli tweeted on his personal Twitter account @fadlizon, Tuesday (18/1/2022).

According to him, the use of Nusantara diction as the name of IKN is not suitable because it has multiple meanings.
“Nusantara is not suitable as the name of the new capital city. Nusantara has its own understanding as Indonesian territory, not to mention the Archipelago Insight,” he said.
Previously, the Minister of National Development Planning (PPN)/Head of Bappenas, Suharso Monoarfa, leaked the name of the new IKN. President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) gave the name Nusantara for the new IKN area later.
“I just received direct confirmation from the President on Friday, and he said the capital city of this country was called Nusantara,” said Suharso at the IKN Special Committee meeting at the DPR Building, Jakarta, Monday (17/1/2022).

He said that the reason President Jokowi decided to name the new IKN was Nusantara because it had been known for a long time.
