Facts about Adikarto Kulon Progo Port, which has been stalled for 17 years, has spent a budget of IDR 450 billion Page all

KOMPAS.com – For 17 years, Adikarto Port in Kapanewon Temon, District West Progo, Yogyakarta Special Region is stalled and not functioning.

In fact, the construction of this fishing port has cost around Rp. 450 billion.

The funds have been disbursed since 2003. Meanwhile, the port itself was built a year later or around 2004.

However, after 17 years of development, the Adikarto Port was also not functioning. The port is located at the mouth of the Serang River not far from Yogyakarta Airport.

Coordinating Minister Luhut ask that the port be empowered immediately

On Friday (12/3/2021), Indonesia’s Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut Binsar Panjaitan visited Adikarto Port.

During the visit, Luhut was accompanied by a number of ministers, namely KKP Minister Wahyu Sakti Trenggono and Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, as well as a number of officials in related ministries.

Also seen were Yogyakarta Governor Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X and Regent of Kulon Progo Sutedjo.

“Unfortunately, Rp 450 billion has been spent since 2003. We want to be empowered immediately,” said Luhut when met at the breakwater of the Serang River in the Tanjung Adikarto area, Friday (12/3/2021).

Luhut said the government is trying to speed up Adikarto’s settlement so that it can be operated immediately.

“The president ordered this to be accelerated and immediate action was taken,” said Luhut.

He also said he would conduct a study for the next three months. Not only related to Adikarto Port. But also the mouth of the Serang River and its sedimentation.

This includes dredging sedimentation, coastal erosion, and periodic flooding.

A study was also carried out regarding the existence of the Bogowinto River which is close to the Adikarto Port and also YIA Airport.

“All the ministers agreed that they intend to have a complete study on this again, involving UGM and the Merdeka Campus. So that it will be finished later, “said Luhut.

With a comprehensive study, Luhut hopes that revitalization will not repeat the mistakes of past development.

“We are waiting for the results of the study in the next three months. Then we think about how to act properly, “said Luhut.

Center of fisheries economy

Regarding Adikarto Port, KKP Minister Wahyu said the government intends to improve the port so that it can become the center of a large fisheries economy.

“How do we revitalize this and improve it so we can live. Because it has been a long time in construction and has never been operational, ”said Wahyu.

Meanwhile Yogyakarta Governor Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X hopes that all of these efforts will remain in line with the continuity of YIA Airport.

“This settlement is not just a matter of ports. But it also involves risks that should not happen to airports. We can understand, “said the Sultan.
