Facing COVID, online shows and books at home in La Rioja

Given the current circumstances motivated by the Covid, the Government of La Rioja and the City of Logroño have decided to launch two joint cultural initiatives with a Riojan bill: ‘Culture without Pause’ and ‘Round-trip books’.

The first proposes twelve theater, dance and music shows, which will be held in a false live and will be broadcast openly, from February 10 to 24 at 8:00 p.m., on different telematic channels.

As reported this morning by the general director of Culture, Ana Zabalegui, the El Perro Azul company will open the cycle with the play ‘Occupied’ (February 10), which will be followed by the proposals ‘Aduosadas’ from Dinámica Teatral (day 12), ‘Genoma B’ by Albadulake (13), the concert ‘Voces del desarraigo: music from Spain Vaciada’ by the local group Tündra (14) and the dance proposal by Madrugada Producciones ‘Artistas inflammable’ (16).

The program is completed with the play ‘La propagandista’ by Chamán Producciones (17), ‘From tales to accounts’ by Zarándula (18), the musical comedy ‘Banana Boat’ by Kare Producciones (19), ‘Ay Carmela’ , by José Sanchís Sinisterra, for Mon Teatro (20), Bruno Calzada’s concert-recital ‘Melodramas de Franz Liszt’ (21), the art comedy ‘Don Perlimpín and the echoes of the green nightingale’ by Realidad Traviesa (23) and, finally, the lyrical theater by Sergej Producciones entitled ‘Winter trip’ (24th).

The retransmission of these shows, previously recorded in the Gonzalo de Berceo room, will be open on the YouTube channel of the Government of La Rioja and on Facebook channels both of the government itself, like Current Festival.

Councilor Carmen Urquía has referred to the initiative ‘Round-trip books’, promoted by the Rafael Azcona Municipal Library and the La Rioja Library for the promotion of reading. During the week of February 8-13, both libraries will offer a selection of “surprise books” to Logroño readers. Those interested can call the Library of La Rioja (telephone 941 29 45 00) or the Rafael Azcona Municipal Library (941 24 58 11), between February 8 to 13, from 10 to 12 in the morning. The team of librarians will collect the necessary data to send one of the selected books to their homes, directly from the bookstore. For this purpose, the Library of La Rioja has acquired 200 copies of 50 different titles, with a special presence of authors and publishers from La Rioja. For its part, the Rafael Azcona Library has acquired 100 editorial novelties, which when the confinement ends and the libraries reopen their doors, they will return to their shelves.
