Facebook’s Bitmoji-like avatars are set to make their way into WhatsApp

Apparently, Bitmoji-style avatars created on Facebook are coming to WhatsApp. They are already available for Meta subsidiaries Instagram and Facebook Messenger, as well as in Stories at the Facebook level. WABeta has now discovered avatars in a beta version of the messenger for Android, although not all users of the version have the avatar option there either. You probably only get testers between testers. However, it is clear that they will come.

To use avatars, there is a new tab in the settings, if you take the beta version that brings avatars with it. Here you can also optimize your virtual selves. WhatsApp can therefore derive the so-called stickers, shows WABetathat is, putting the avatar in different poses and moods that can be sent in messages and used anywhere in the meta worlds.

Not only are the other meta services already coming with such Bitmojis. The iPhone itself also offers Memojis. Optionally, you can also integrate a Bitmoji keyboard, the same goes for Android. Memoji can be animated and dubbed, but can only be viewed and heard on compatible devices. Memoji can also be sent via WhatsApp and other third-party services. Bitmojis can also be integrated into numerous other services.

Now, from 2019, Meta avatars are available in the Messenger and Facebook news feed, shortly after you can also use them for commenting and more. Earlier this year, the torsos (mostly) got a 3D look. The fact that avatars are ultimately intended primarily for the Metaverse was clear from the moment it was introduced. The legs were featured at this year’s Connect indoor show. According to Mark Zuckerberg, generating them should be extremely difficult, because the data for this comes exclusively from the headphones and controllers. When the legs will be available, however, it is unclear.
