Facebook suspended US President Donald Trump’s account for at least two weeks. This made Facebook unavailable until President-elect Joe Biden took office. The suspension of use may be indefinitely.
Mark Zuckerberg posted a post on his Facebook page on the 7th (local time), saying, “I think the risk of having the president continue to use our services during this period is too great. We will increase the suspension imposed indefinitely.” He added that “at least two weeks until a peaceful transfer of power is achieved.”
– The day before, President Trump’s supporters broke into the Capitol in Washington, DC, and social media such as Facebook, Twitter and Snapchat suspended President Trump’s account.
This is the first time that an incumbent president’s social media account has been suspended.
