Facebook supervisory board resets decision on possible …

Facebook’s supervisory board is taking extra time on its most important case so far: whether ex-president Donald Trump was rightly banned or not. More time is needed to study the more than 9,000 responses, it says.

After the Facebook Oversight Board – or the supervisory board – had already ruled last week about the suspension of Zwarte Piet, a decision on the possible return of Donald Trump on Facebook and Instagram was also expected next Wednesday.

But the answer to the question of whether the ex-president was rightly banned from the platforms in January after inciting his followers to storm the Capitol will take a little longer. The supervisory board has announced in a statement that the decision is expected ‘in the coming weeks’. The delay is due to the high number of responses the Board has received and which it intends to study in depth.
