Facebook launches new tool to manage the data it collects on you

It is now widely known that Facebook uses as much data as it can to display targeted advertising. After multiple scandals of exploitation of personal data, the social network wants to look better. In a press release entitled “Start the decade by helping you better control your privacy”, Mark Zuckerberg takes advantage of the day of data protection to return to the tool “activity outside of Facebook”.

Activity outside of Facebook is available from the settings.

Announced in 2018 and tested last summer, this setting allows you to control your activities on the web or in apps that Facebook knows, even if they seem to be outside its scope. You can view the data collected by the social network, delete the history and disconnect access to your activity outside of Facebook.

Companies send us information about your activities on their sites and we use this information to show you relevant advertisements. Now you can see a summary of this information and log it out of your account if you wish Writes Mark Zuckerberg.

You will not escape the advertisements, warns the site: “ You will still see the same amount of ads, but they may be less personalized. In the next few weeks, a message redirecting you to the Privacy Support Tool should appear on your news feed.

To find this option, go to Settings> Your Facebook information> Activities outside of Facebook.
