Facebook employees critical of not shielding Trump’s messages | NOW

Facebook employees have expressed their displeasure on Twitter for not removing or shielding messages from US President Donald Trump glorifying violence. They disagree with it point of view that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg shared last Friday. He again emphasized that the messages of people in positions of power should be public.

In social media posts, Trump responded to the demonstrations against police brutality in the city of Minneapolis. “When the looting starts, the shooting starts,” he said. Twitter decided shield the tweet, but Facebook didn’t.

A number of Facebook employees do not share the position of the CEO and believe that the platform should do more if the President reports violence in glorification or disseminates incorrect information.

“Not proud of the position”

Several Facebook employees tweeted that they are “not proud of the position of their company” and that internal conversations are ineffective.

Reported earlier this week The Verge that leaked internal reports indicate that Facebook employees believe the company should take a clearer position. They don’t want “Facebook to be on the wrong side of history.”
