JAKARTA – Facebook has several communication applications. These applications include Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram through the direct message (DM) feature. In 2019, Facebook was allegedly trying to find a way to unify messaging services on a cross-platform basis, it was quoted Ubergizmo.
According to The Verge’s report, it appears that the company is linking Instagram and Messenger messages. Circulating publications reveal that some editors receive an update screen when they open Instagram. Users are notified of a “new way to message” in the app.
After the update, it seems that the DM icon in the Instagram application has been replaced with the Messenger logo. However, it looks like this could be a kind of preliminary test because it is currently not possible to send messages to Facebook users directly from Instagram.

It is not yet known when this feature will be released. It may be that Facebook just started testing first, before it was widely launched. WhatsApp is expected to support this cross-platform feature.
Especially for WhatsApp, there is a possibility that a cross-platform feature will appear when the instant messaging application allows multiple devices to use the same account.
