Fabio Jakobsen will keep the hospital in artificial coma until tomorrow Tour of Poland

Deceuninck-Quick Step sprinter Fabio Jakobsen had a 5-hour operation last night.

The hospital in Sosnowiec, which treats Jakobsen, would release more information about the condition of the Dutch rider at 2 pm.

Jakobsen was expected to be released from his artificial coma today. But the doctors have decided to postpone that until tomorrow.

“We don’t want to rush anything,” reports the hospital. “We’ll probably try to get the rider out of his artificial coma tomorrow morning.”

The attending physician Pawel Gruenpeter remains cautious. “I hope there is no damage to his nervous system. We must remember that the patient was resuscitated for about an hour yesterday,” the doctor said.
