F1 drivers take charge and start their own new racing competition

Under the leadership of Charles Leclerc, six drivers this week decided to take matters into their own hands and set up a new racing competition. The new championship, called Race for the World, will consist of three race nights with two races each.

On behalf of the Formula 1 drivers’ guild, in addition to Leclerc, Lando Norris, Alexander Albon, George Russell, Antonio Giovinazzi and Nicholas Latifi will participate in the new competition, which will be all about raising money for charity: the World Health Organization, which is currently rock-hard is fighting the Covid-19 virus.

In addition to the F1 drivers, the rest of the eighteen-person field also consists of big names, such as Formula E driver Antonio Felix da Costa, six Formula 2 drivers, Arthur Leclerc, Super Formula driver Nick Cassidy, motorcycle driver Luca Salvadori and as a relatively strange duck in the bite Real Madrid keeper Thibault Courtois, who is crazy about sim racing.

The three racing evenings will take place in the coming week, on Saturday April 11, Tuesday April 14 and Friday April 17, starting at 7:00 PM Dutch time and will be broadcast on the streaming platform Twitch.
