Extra fiscal support for self-employed persons and entrepreneurs NOW

The cabinet is introducing three additional measures to support self-employed workers and entrepreneurs so that they spend less money on taxes. This should give entrepreneurs a bit more financial room for this year.

This says Hans Vijlbrief, State Secretary of Finance, Friday.

For example, self-employed people who work less because of the crisis will not be cut on their tax benefits. In order to claim some benefits, self-employed people must work a certain number of hours in a year. If the crisis fails, they will not be disadvantaged.

In addition, large shareholders in companies have to pay less payroll tax and companies are given the opportunity to more easily offset this year’s losses against profits from previous years. This means that some companies have to pay less profit tax net.

Vijlbrief does not know exactly how many entrepreneurs support these schemes, but tens of thousands of entrepreneurs may be involved. The measures cost the treasury 4 billion euros. This is in addition to the previously estimated 35 to 45 billion euros that the state is missing in income.
