Extra DNA investigation in case of trunk murder: case postponed | Inland

DNA of main suspect Hans O. from Emmen was found on Meinema’s left pocket. Justice assumes that he killed the 31-year-old victim and was also involved in removing the badly damaged body of the man from Klazienaveen. O. (43) denies. He says he met Meinema three times a day before his death. The two would then have shaken hands and O. would have been behind the wheel of his striking Mercedes.

The resident of Emmen states that his DNA then ended up on his pants via Meinema’s own hands. Last summer, the court already decided to have the NFI investigate whether this is possible. O.’s lawyer Nico Meijering asked last month to abandon the months-long investigation, because the Emmen “can’t take it anymore” in prison. But the court is still going ahead. This puts an end to the substantive handling of the case that was planned for the end of this month.

O. will remain in jail for the next few months.
