The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is disappointed with the Resolution of the Assembly of the Republic of Northern Macedonia adopted on 29 July 2021 and notes with regret that this act comes at a time when the bilateral dialogue between Sofia and Skopje, as a result of sustained efforts, has begun to is entering a more positive and promising phase, the press center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.
Bulgaria looks forward to the promulgation of the Resolution in order to carefully analyze its content in terms of its compatibility with the Treaty of Friendship, Good Neighborliness and Cooperation signed and ratified by the Assembly of the Republic of Northern Macedonia in 2017, as well as the potential impact of this document. on the dialogue so far.
It would be completely unacceptable for Bulgaria to motivate or justify non-fulfillment of the Treaty of Good Neighborliness and Cooperation of 2017 through such acts, which contradicts the guiding principles of international law.
The only right way to find sustainable and mutually acceptable solutions to the current challenges in our relations is the strict adherence to the agreements and commitments, their effective and conscientious implementation, as well as maintaining a sincere and full dialogue.
