Extension of the deadline for Ecuadorians from the US not to present RT-PCR test at the time of shipment – Ministry of Public Health

Quito, January 9, 2022

The Ministry of Public Health (MSP) informs that the exceptionality is maintained for the non-presentation of RT-PCR tests to resident passengers who return to Ecuador by air from the United States and who for some reason cannot perform the RT-PCR Test. This measure will be in effect until January 16, 2022 under the following conditions:

• Present a vaccination card with a complete schedule, the application of the second dose at least 14 days before the trip.

• Compulsory completion of the RT-PCR Test, at the expense of the traveler, upon arrival in Ecuador.

• Mandatory preventive isolation for 14 days.

For people who come from localities where the vaccination protocol contemplates the application of the vaccine 6 months after the COVID-19 infection and for this reason they have not been vaccinated; They must necessarily present a certificate that indicates it (that does not exceed 6 months) and the negative RT-PCR test, upon arrival in Ecuador.

If the passenger cannot receive the vaccine due to a health condition, they must present a medical certificate that supports said condition and a negative RT-PCR test.

Finally, when boarding the airline, the passenger must present the Traveler’s Health Declaration available at the following link: https://declaracionsalud-viajero.msp.gob.ec/. If you do not have the digital document, you can submit the physical form provided by the same airline.
