Expo 2030 will not be held in Russia – Moscow withdrew the application, Odessa is still a contender

“Given the recent decisions of the Bureau International des Expositions, there is no fair competition for the selection of the venue for the World Universal Exhibition Expo 2030,” he said.

It should be noted that in December 2021 it became known that for the first time in 170 years, Ukraine claims to host Expo 2030 in Odessa.

Ukraine claims to Expo 2030

At the end of last year, the Ukrainian government team presented the concept of Expo 2030 to the international jury. In addition to Odessa, Rome (Italy), Riyadh (Saudi Arabia) and Busan (South Korea) claim to host the exhibition.

At the World Expo, the participating countries demonstrate their achievements in innovations, technological developments, present their culture, traditions and offer their vision of the future. At one time, the Eiffel Tower in Paris was erected for such an exhibition.

As a rule, Expo gathers a lot of guests and tourists, as it takes place only once every five years. The competition of cities that want to host the exhibition starts almost 10 years before the date, so that the winner has time to prepare. Which city will host the exhibition in 2030 will be announced at the end of next year.

Ukraine sees Expo 2030 as an opportunity to attract additional investment, advertise itself in international markets, receive millions of tourists and get a powerful impetus for development.
